About Us
Reflex Performance Resources Inc., a global sourcing company specializing in the manufacturing and sales of activewear and sportswear (Missy, Men’s, Children’s, and Infants), is seeking a highly skilled Technical Designer to join our Product Development team. This full-time, in-office role is based in New York City and requires strong expertise in specs, grading, and garment construction from concept through production.
Position Overview
The Technical Designer is responsible for ensuring accurate specifications, fit consistency, and construction quality across multiple product categories. You will partner closely with Design, Product Development, and Production teams, as well as overseas factories, to deliver high-quality garments that meet brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop initial garment specifications and construction methods for new styles.
Create and maintain measurement specs and graded specs for Missy and Kids (experience in Intimates a plus).
Attend and lead fit sessions to evaluate prototypes for measurement, silhouette, proportion, and construction accuracy.
Communicate fit intent, revisions, and construction details clearly to cross-functional teams and overseas vendors.
Troubleshoot production issues, resolve technical challenges, and escalate as needed.
Collaborate with Design and Production to align product development with brand standards and timelines.
Maintain organized technical packages, ensuring accurate updates from initial development through final production.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Technical Design, Patternmaking, or related field.
5+ years of technical design experience in the apparel industry (Missy and Kids required).
Strong knowledge of garment construction, spec grading, and manufacturing processes.
Hands-on knowledge of sewing machines, fabrics, and components.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace (Excel expertise required); Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate across teams and with overseas factories.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive problem solver.
