Job Description

This role is responsible for performing laboratory tasks in support of dōTERRA Enterprises’ essential oil research, quality testing, and distillation operations. This is an ideal position for individuals seeking hands-on experience in analytical chemistry, natural product research, and essential oil science. The intern will assist in sample preparation, chemical analysis, and botanical distillation. This position will report to the Head of Essential Oil Science. Job Responsibilities include assisting with GC-MS sample preparation and data collection, participating in steam and hydro distillation of essential oil samples, performing basic wet lab techniques including weighing, diluting, and extracting, maintaining accurate records of lab activities and observations, supporting ongoing research projects related to oil purity, adulteration, and chemotype profiling, helping compile technical reports and data summaries, conducting literature reviews on essential oil chemistry, and following laboratory SOPs and safety guidelines. Job Qualifications include completed or in-progress bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field, basic understanding of organic chemistry and laboratory practices, prior experience working in an academic or industrial chemistry lab preferred, interest in natural products, plant-based compounds, or essential oil science, strong attention to detail and good documentation habits, ability to follow instructions and work both independently and with a team, and experience with GC-MS or distillation techniques is a plus.
