WordPress & WooCommerce Developer

CannaBuddy – Charlotte, NC

CannaBuddy is seeking a skilled WordPress & WooCommerce Developer to lead the development, maintenance, and optimization of our e-commerce platform and digital infrastructure. This role will focus on building and enhancing our WordPress-based online marketplace, powered by WooCommerce, to deliver a seamless user experience for our customers. You’ll collaborate with our team to ensure our websites are secure, high-performing, and aligned with our brand’s commitment to quality. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver with a strong background in WordPress, WooCommerce, and modern web technologies, passionate about creating exceptional e-commerce solutions.

Key Responsibilities

WordPress & WooCommerce Development and Management

  • Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress websites with a focus on WooCommerce for our e-commerce platform across production, staging, and development environments.

  • Build and customize WooCommerce features, including product pages, checkout processes, payment gateways, and shipping integrations.

  • Perform regular updates to WordPress core, themes, and plugins; manage plugin subscriptions and renewals.

  • Create and modify custom WordPress themes and plugins to meet business needs, ensuring compatibility and performance.

  • Implement and test template updates to maintain design consistency and functionality.

  • Manage content backups, version control, and site migrations.

 

Security & Performance Optimization

  • Implement WordPress and WooCommerce security best practices, including firewalls, malware scanning, and SSL configurations.

  • Conduct regular audits of WordPress installations and server environments to identify and resolve vulnerabilities.

  • Optimize site performance using CDNs, caching plugins (e.g., Hummingbird, LiteSpeed Cache), and database optimization techniques.

  • Ensure fast page load times and a seamless shopping experience for customers.

 

E-Commerce Functionality & Integrations

  • Integrate third-party tools and APIs (e.g., payment gateways, CRM, email marketing platforms, and shipping solutions) with WooCommerce.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to WooCommerce functionality, payment processing, or customer-facing features.

  • Collaborate with marketing and design teams to implement promotional campaigns, landing pages, and A/B testing.

 

Technical Support & Collaboration

  • Provide technical support for internal teams using WordPress and WooCommerce.

  • Work with hosting providers, troubleshoot server issues, and manage environments via cPanel, WHM, or similar tools.

  • Support basic IT tasks, such as troubleshooting internal software or hardware, as needed.

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong expertise in WordPress development, including custom theme and plugin development.

  • Proven experience with WooCommerce, including customization of e-commerce features, payment gateways, and shipping methods.

  • Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL; familiarity with APIs and webhooks.

  • Experience with WordPress performance optimization tools and security plugins.

  • Knowledge of cPanel, WHM, Apache, or Linux server environments.

  • Familiarity with SEO best practices for WordPress and WooCommerce.

  • Understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git) and deployment workflows.

  • Basic troubleshooting skills for IT systems or hardware (e.g., computers, printers, or POS systems).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with front-end frameworks like React or Vue.js for enhanced interactivity.

  • Familiarity with headless WordPress or decoupled CMS architectures.

  • Knowledge of e-commerce analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Metorik).

  • Experience with Agile workflows or CI/CD pipelines.
