Certification Details

Job Details
- Perform waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by CLIA and Bus. & Prof. Code Section 1204.
- Adhere to laboratory procedures for collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
- Follow quality control policies and document corrective actions when test systems deviate from performance specifications.
- Identify and correct problems affecting test performance or notify supervisor/Director/Medical Director.
- Perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures using manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and other disciplines.
- Perform and document maintenance on instruments and equipment as appropriate.
- Review accuracy of patient results prior to release or reporting.
- Recognize age-specific differences in expected results from newborns to geriatrics.
- Ensure proficiency testing samples are tested like patient samples and prohibit collaboration prior to reporting results.
- May perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on various age groups.
- Assist in development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures.
- Adhere to department and hospital policies related to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources.
- May be assigned as Lead Tech in absence of supervisor, responsible for section or department during shift.
- May have responsibilities related to Laboratory Information System (LIS) and/or Point of Care (POC).
- Other tasks or responsibilities as assigned by department manager/director.
Job Requirements
- ASCP certification or equivalent required.
- Minimum two years of hospital laboratory work experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements as stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1489).
- Current and valid State License if required by state law.
- Must perform tests authorized by CLIA and Bus. & Prof. Code Section 1204 with appropriate skill and technical abilities.
Schedule Information
- Contract length is 13 weeks.
Additional Details
- COVID-19 vaccine and booster required or declination completed.
- Proof of MMR immunity (2 vaccines or positive titer) required.
- Annual respirator fit test required.
- Hepatitis B vaccination required; declinations not accepted at Shasta Regional Medical Center.
- Influenza vaccine or declination required during flu season; declinations not accepted at certain facilities.
- TB test within one year of start date required.
- Driver's license, State ID, or Passport required.
- Varicella vaccination or immunity required.
- Tdap vaccination required; declinations not accepted at some hospitals.
- Physical/Health statement required annually, must state clear to work.
- Prime OIG check required.
- Prime Core Competencies Exam with minimum 80% score required.
- Prime Skills Checklist required.
- Prime Color-blind test required annually.
- National Criminal Background Check within one year of start date required with some state exceptions.
- Prime Agency Attestation required after all credentials uploaded.
- Prime SAM/EPLS exclusion search required.
- Prime Form I-9 (Employment eligibility verification) required.
- Prime Specialty Exam with minimum 80% score required.
- Signed Prime Job Description required.
- California Sexual Harassment Prevention Training valid for 2 years required.
- Prime Drug Screening (minimum 10-panel test including THC saliva test) within 60 days of start required.
- Up-to-date resume required at time of offer acceptance.
- Two references required, including one from a manager or supervisor.
- Name Verification Affidavit required for any name discrepancies between credentials.
