Job Description

TECHNICAL WRITER - INDEPENDENT CONTACTOR/PROJECT BASED

Job Summary:

This at-will position is being hired to support a specific client project. While this role is an independent contractor position with Falcon's Creative Group, employment will not extend beyond the duration of the project. The assignment will conclude once the project is completed, at which time employment with Falcon's Creative Group will end. The expected project timeline is   to be determined. For avoidance of doubt, employment with Falcon’s would be at-will at all times, meaning that the employee or Falcon’s may terminate the employment at any time (including prior to the conclusion of the project).

As a highly skilled technical writer, you are responsible for creating, managing, and maintaining clear, detailed, and accessible documentation that supports the design, development, and implementation of interactive experiences, holographic display technologies, and technology-based integrations within large-scale mixed-use public spaces. This role serves as the communication bridge between creative design, game development, engineering, and operational teams, ensuring that complex technical information is translated into structured, usable documentation.

Essential Functions:

  1. Write detailed specifications for holographic displays, interactive installations, and technology-driven guest touchpoints.
  2. Develop integration documentation that explains how interactive systems connect with AV, show control, lighting, projection, and IoT infrastructure.
  3. Produce user guides, workflow diagrams, and onboarding materials for operators, technicians, and developers.
  4. Work closely with engineers, creative directors, and architects to gather requirements and translate complex concepts into structured documentation.
  5. Collaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure accurate representation of system functionality and design intent.
  6. Partner with operations and facilities management to create clear procedures for maintaining and troubleshooting technology in public-facing environments.
  7. Track versioning of documents and ensure updates are communicated effectively to all stakeholders.
  8. Incorporate industry best practices in documenting real-time engines, APIs, hardware integration, and interactive user experiences.
  9. Simplify complex engineering details for non-technical stakeholders, including creative leadership and operations teams.
  10. Provide detailed reference materials that support long-term maintenance and upgrades of deployed systems.
  11. Develop training manuals and operational handbooks for live environments, including mixed-use retail, hospitality, and entertainment spaces.
  12. Document commissioning, testing, and QA processes for interactive and holographic systems.
  13. Ensure documentation accounts for guest flow, accessibility, safety, and system resilience in high-traffic public spaces.

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
  2. At least three years of experience working as a technical writer.
  3. Experience in an entertainment profession is preferred.
  4. Familiarity with programming languages such as Python is preferred.
  5. Proficiency with tools/software such Markdown, Confluence, Git, Adobe FrameMaker, and SmartDraw.
  6. Ability to understand and clearly explain complex technical concepts.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Experience working in a fast-paced environment is a plus.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to manage multiple documentation streams simultaneously in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to version control and detail.
  • Comfort with emerging technologies and willingness to research, learn, and document rapidly evolving tools.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for on-site integration reviews, technology tests, and commissioning support.
  • Passion for storytelling, interactive design, and future-forward technologies.
