Job Description

The Systems Integration Engineer will be responsible for supporting the Lead Systems Integration Engineer in planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining an integration layer for the enterprise software used by Salt Lake Community College (SLCC). This layer will be generally composed of the Ellucian integration platform applications such as Ethos Integration, the Intelligent Learning Platform, Data Connect, and Data Access. The design and implementation of the layer will also include other tools as necessary to make the integration layer capable of making data and processes available to any system within the SLCC enterprise environment. This role requires a deep understanding of system architecture, integration methodologies, and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues. The goals of the integration layer design will be efficiency, flexibility, scalability, and enhanced data flow in a standardized environment. The Systems Integration Engineer will also be responsible for assisting the Enterprise Application Administrators in their effort to retire legacy systems and customizations and move processes to the native capabilities of the ERP and other software. SLCC is an in-person public facing institution. The requirements for collaboration and interaction in this role necessitate a significant on campus presence of 80%. Responsibilities Support the System Integration Engineering Lead in the design, implementation, and maintenance of a standardized integration layer, including deploying tools, custom development (if necessary), and requests for software, hardware and other resources needed to support the integration layer. Develop integrations for new and existing enterprise applications and/or systems, including connector configuration, ETL process development, loading data access sources, and data mapping. Work with the Enterprise Application Administrators to integrate current and new software systems into the integration layer. Collaborate with varied, cross-functional teams and internal teams to implement and support business solutions. Advise Business Systems Analysts on automation and integration impacts. Collaborate with others in person and on campus. Participate in professional development. Participate in professional development. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Experience in database, API, and software development using object-oriented or procedural programming languages. Experience using integration platforms. Experience implementing system integrations using current integration methods. Ability to effectively collaborate with varied, cross-functional teams to implement and support business solutions. Ability to lead a team of Integration Engineers to design and build enterprise capable systems. Ability to create application documentation. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field from an accredited college or technical school. Four (4) years of full-time paid direct experience as a senior developer integrating software using modern integration methods.
