Job Description

Job Summary:

The IT Infrastructure Project Coordinator Healthcare is responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation, and support of IT infrastructure projects within a healthcare environment. This includes working closely with clinical and non-clinical departments to ensure technology solutions are aligned with patient care goals, regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA), and enterprise IT strategy. Projects may include network upgrades, server deployments, EHR infrastructure enhancements, clinical device integration, and secure cloud migration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of infrastructure projects supporting healthcare operations and clinical systems.
  • Support planning and execution of infrastructure upgrades in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities.
  • Collaborate with IT, clinical informatics, cybersecurity, and compliance teams to align infrastructure goals with clinical workflows and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules, resource plans, and risk assessments.
  • Track project deliverables and milestones, ensuring adherence to deadlines and healthcare-specific compliance guidelines (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH).
  • Schedule and facilitate meetings with technical teams, clinical stakeholders, and vendors; document meeting minutes and action items.
  • Support deployment of infrastructure supporting EHRs (e.g., Epic, Cerner), PACS, medical IoT devices, and telehealth platforms.
  • Assist in equipment tracking, vendor coordination, and go-live planning across multiple healthcare sites.
  • Maintain documentation including configuration records, network diagrams, and asset management logs.
  • Identify risks or bottlenecks and escalate to IT leadership as needed to avoid delays in patient care operations.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience:

  • 24 years of experience in IT project coordination, ideally in a healthcare or clinical IT setting.
  • Familiarity with healthcare IT infrastructure such as EHR systems, clinical applications, medical-grade networks, and patient data security.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure projects in hospitals, clinics, or health systems is strongly preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to clinical staff.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare data privacy regulations (HIPAA, HITECH).
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project, Jira).
  • Team-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate across technical and clinical teams.

Preferred Certifications:

  • CompTIA Project+ or CAPM
  • ITIL Foundation Certification
  • PMP (Project Management Professional)
  • CHIT (Certified Healthcare IT Technician) or similar
  • Familiarity with HITRUST, NIST, or other healthcare security frameworks is a plus

Work Environment:

  • Onsite
  • May involve after-hours or on-call support during go-lives or infrastructure cutovers.
  • Must be comfortable working in regulated environments where patient safety is a top priority.
