Job Description

Incumbents are responsible for aspects of Physician Practice front office management and operation as assigned. May be responsible for some or all front office functions including patient registration, pre-certification, charge capture, coding diagnoses, posting payments, balancing reports, arranging pre-payments, billing, filing insurance claims, assisting patients with insurance forms, processing unpaid accounts, and customer service. Acts as liaison between patient and medical support staff, greets patients, verifies insurance, schedules appointments, provides phone support, processes vouchers and payments, maintains records, and assists with outpatient coding and error resolution. Assists patients with insurance claims, disability benefits, home health care, and surgical care. Processes benefit correspondence and insurance forms, follows up with insurance companies, and maintains patient account records. Manages outpatient billing process, codes procedures and diagnoses, maintains medical records, and ensures proper filing and destruction of records. Collects payments, performs collection actions, evaluates financial status, establishes payment plans, and resolves billing complaints. Participates in educational activities and maintains confidentiality and professional appearance. Reports to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive. Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent; no previous experience required. Preferred qualifications include an Associate's Degree in a technical specialty program, multi-specialty group practice experience, and basic understanding of ICD-9 and CPT coding. Work shift is day in the United States of America.
