Job Description

A full-time opportunity is available for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) dedicated to supporting K-12 students with diverse needs, including vision, hearing, other health impairments (OHI), and cognitive challenges. This position is a contract role for the current school year, providing a structured Monday through Friday schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Responsibilities include:

• Delivering specialized orientation and mobility services tailored to students with vision and hearing impairments.
• Collaborating with educators and support staff to develop individualized plans that enhance student independence and safety.
• Conducting assessments and monitoring student progress to adjust interventions as needed.
• Providing guidance and training to families and school personnel regarding mobility strategies and accommodations.

Qualifications:

• Current licensure as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist.
• Proven experience working with students who have vision and hearing deficits.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary teamwork.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment that addresses the unique mobility needs of each student.
