MARKETING ASSISTANT

Position Summary

This entry-level support position will assist NOPECs marketing and community outreach teams in the creation, coordination, and distribution of branded content across digital, print, and in-person channels. In collaboration with the marketing team, the Marketing Assistant will play a key role in writing and designing content for NOPECs website, social media platforms, newsletters, and event materials. The role will also assist the marketing team with community engagement activities, including event preparation and staffing. This is a great opportunity for a creative and motivated early-career marketing professional to gain hands-on experience and grow within the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Illustrative duties may include, but are not restricted to, one or more of the following:

  • Assist with creating, editing, and publishing content for NOPECs website, blog, social media, email campaigns, and newsletters in line with brand voice and strategy.
  • Support the development of marketing collateral, such as flyers, banners, signage, publications and promotional products.
  • Help maintain and update website content using a content management system (e.g., Umbraco).
  • Assist with the development and scheduling of social media content using planning tools and established calendars.
  • Assist with monitoring social media platforms and help respond to messages and comments in a timely, professional manner.
  • Assist in capturing, editing, and organizing digital media (photos, graphics, short videos) for use in marketing materials.
  • Help maintain an editorial and content calendar in collaboration with the broader marketing team.
  • Assist with tracking performance metrics for digital campaigns and assist in preparing basic analytic reports.
  • Coordinate and prepare materials and displays for community and outreach events.
  • Attend outreach events, set up promotional tents and signage, and engage with the public to promote NOPECs programs and mission.
  • Help manage marketing inventory, ensuring materials and giveaways are stocked, organized, and transported to events as needed.
  • Provide administrative support to the marketing and outreach teams, including scheduling, filing, and documentation tasks.
  • Participate in creative brainstorming sessions and contribute new ideas for outreach and content campaigns.

Physical Requirements

  • Valid Ohio Drivers License and proof of automobile insurance at a level established by NOPEC.
  • Must have reliable transportation to office and offsite events.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and lift promotional materials and equipment for events.
  • Ability to use office equipment including but not limited to office copier, shredder, computer equipment, audio/visual equipment.
  • Ability to speak in a clear and easily comprehensible manner.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • High school diploma with 1-2 years of experience in subjects or projects related to graphic design, marketing, journalism, advertising, PR, or communications.
  • Experience creating content for websites, social media and newsletters is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube).
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, or similar tools preferred.
  • Experience with website content management systems (e.g., Umbraco) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of email marketing platforms (e.g., Act-On, Mailchimp) is a plus.
  • Proactive, strong collaborator that is highly organized, motivated and eager to support the marketing team.
  • Willing to work a limited number of evenings and weekends to help with marketing events or initiatives.
  • A creative mindset that seeks to understand what audiences consume and the ability to take new ideas from concept to execution.
  • Strong attention to detail, exceptional writing skills with superior grammar and proofreading skills, and the ability to create high-quality content.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions

  • Incumbent will work in an office environment but is also expected to be able to function in an environment consistent with many multiple public buildings, street fairs, festivals, etc. throughout NOPECs Ohio footprint. Resultantly, the incumbent should expect to occasionally deal with the normal range of weather within Ohio including heat, cold, humidity, rain, etc. Occasional travel within the NOPEC footprint is expected. Incumbent should understand the expectation is that this job periodically requires a 40+ hour per week commitment.
