We are seeking an organized and detailed person with experience in both inbound and outbound International Logistics in an organization that is ISO 9001 compliant.  This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, efficient, and compliant handling of finished materials, products, and shipments, including adherence to U.S. and international export control regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, process-driven, and skilled at leading a team in a fast-paced environment. The Logistics Specialist would also have a willingness to learn the basics of ISO systems and participate in maintenance of ISO systems.    

 

This position will report directly to the Operations Manager.  

 

The Logistics Specialist objectives include:  

  • Embody personal core values that are consistent with company core values. 
  • Manage daily export, shipping, and import operations, including scheduling, prioritizing, choosing and coordinating with carriers and suppliers. 
  • Create shipping quotes. 
  • Oversee the inspection, verification, and documentation of incoming and outgoing shipments. 
  • Verify international shipments for accuracy of customs paperwork, country-of-origin labeling, and restricted party screenings. 
  • Document processes, develop guidance, and implement process improvements to streamline logistics and reduce costs. 
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. and international import and export control regulations, including proper application of export control statements, licenses, and documentation (e.g. EAR, ITAR, ECCN, HTS codes, AES filings, Certificate of Origin, made in USA declarations, etc.)

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:  

  • Coordinate with purchasing, production, production scheduling, service, and sales departments to meet delivery deadlines and resolve issues and shipping claims. 
  • Manage relationships with freight providers, negotiate rates, and monitor service levels. 
  • Track KPIs such as on-time delivery, shipping accuracy, and inventory discrepancies. 
  • Prepare reports for management on shipping/receiving performance, logistics costs, and compliance issues. 

Qualifications / Skills:  

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. and international export controls, customs regulations, and international shipping documentation. 

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:  

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field. 
  • Two (2) years of import and export responsibility  

 

Additional helpful skills  

  • Experience in quality assurance, ISO 9001 compliance. 
  • Ability to obtain Forklift certification, ability to team lift 50 lbs.  
  • Previous project management experience. 

 

Anticipated Compensation Range:   

  • The salary range is $55,000 to $70,000 , commensurate with qualifications.
