Job Description: Counselor/Mountain Bike Instructor

KC&E has been providing mountain bike camps and clinics throughout New England for nearly a decade. We offer camps for young riders aged 8 - 13 and clinics and private instruction for riders of all ages. Our programs are renowned for their safe, fun, and inclusive approach to teaching mountain biking/cycling.

As a Counselor/Mountain Bike Instructor, your primary responsibility will be to guide participants through KC&E’s skill development curriculum, ensuring both safety and adherence to best practices. In collaboration with the Camp Director and/or Lead Counselor, you will manage all facets of the program. This encompasses preparatory and concluding activities, participant check-in and sign-out, skill instruction, leading biking expeditions, and fostering meaningful connections with both participants and their families.

Prerequisites for applicants:

Enjoy cycling/proficient mountain biker

Previous experience as a camp counselor and/or experience working with children.

CPR/First Aid certification.

Completion of online and local in-person training.

Time commitment:

We are looking for staff to join us for as many sessions as possible, but we will still consider your application if you are only available for some sessions.

Spring Programs are the following days/dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5/7-6/13 (2:30pm-5:30pm), Fridays, 5/17-6/14 (11:30am-2:30pm)

Summer Camps are the following weeks: Week of 6/24 through the week of 7/29. Camps will run from 9am - 1pm and 12:30pm - 3pm respectively, on Monday-Friday except the week of July 4th, which will be Monday - Wednesday.

You will also be required to attend an in-person orientation training with your local camp manager.

What the role entails:

Reporting to the local lead counselor and camp manager.

Working with another member of the team to run all aspects of camp based on our curriculum, which includes

Teaching individual skills modules

Leading skills application rides

Assisting the lead counselor at check in every day

Setting up and cleaning up every day

Reporting to your lead counselor about any group changes that need to be made

Ensuring a SAFE and fun environment for all

Job Type: Part-time

Schedule:

Monday - Friday for scheduled programming noted above, with Saturday/Sunday opportunities based on private guiding/instruction bookings
