Barnes & Thornburg LLP seeks an Investment Funds Associate with 2-4 years of fund formation experience to join our Chicago office. The Associate will be part of a dynamic office and corporate group, advising on the formation, structuring, operation and regulation of private investment funds and their advisers. The Ideal candidate will be motivated to play an important role in growing an active and entrepreneurial practice, demonstrate initiative, possess a willingness and ability to assume direct responsibility for client matters, and will have the interpersonal skills to work well as part of a collegial, collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Advise on the formation, structuring, operation and financing of a wide range of private investment funds (including private equity, hedge fund, credit, venture and crypto-focused) for both established and new sponsors
• Draft, revise and negotiate fund documents
• Coordinate all aspects of a fund launch/closing
• Assist with ongoing federal and state regulatory filings and other compliance obligations for RIAs, exempt reporting advisers and other advisers

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of fund formation experience
• Knowledge of and familiarity with the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, the Securities Act of 1933, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934
• Outstanding writing, research, and analytical skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Top academic credentials
• Must be admitted and in good standing with the IL bar

The base salary range for this position in Chicago is $225,000 to $295,000 (commensurate with experience). Performance-based bonus eligible.
