Investigator II – Commonwealth of Kentucky Join the Commonwealth of Kentucky as an Investigator II to enforce alcohol and tobacco laws within the state. Your role will involve complex investigations, enforcement, and collaboration with various agency divisions. Pay Range Base pay range: $97,300.00–$125,544.00 Description The Alcoholic Beverage Control Board develops and enforces reasonable administrative regulations relating to the sale and use of alcoholic beverages, tobacco, nicotine and vapor products. The Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control includes the Commissioner’s office, the Distilled Spirits and Malt Beverage divisions, an administrative services branch, a licensing division, an education branch, a legal division and an enforcement division. The Investigator II will conduct complex and sensitive investigations and enforce Kentucky and federal alcohol and tobacco laws, including searches, surveys, apprehensions, arrests of persons suspected of violating laws, and other duties as required. Responsibilities Conduct complex and sensitive investigations such as death or fatal collision investigations, and assist in training and mentoring newly hired investigators. Plan, organize, and coordinate the work of a group of investigators, including search warrant planning, execution, investigation of cases, and execution of emergency suspension orders. Conduct required tobacco inspections, issue administrative citations and/or warnings for tobacco violations, maintain FDA Commission status, follow FDA Program Coordinator guidelines, and testify at FDA hearings. Search, seize, catalog, mark, and secure evidence and contraband while maintaining chain of custody, and comply with agency Procedure Manual standards. Recruit and supervise Investigative Aides during enforcement operations. Testify at administrative and criminal proceedings. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills and Expectations Possess and maintain a Peace Officer Professional Standards (POPS) certification through the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council (KLEC). Graduate of a university or college with a degree or advanced degree. Maintain a valid driver’s license. Required to carry and/or use a firearm. Be exposed to dangerous working conditions. Communicate frequently in person or by other means of technology. Be exposed to contagious diseases. Work overtime or alternate schedules. Strong verbal and written communications. Computer literacy. Experience, Training, or Skills: Four years of experience in investigative law enforcement or a related field of investigation. Age and License: Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license. Peace Officer Certification: Must possess a POPS certification and maintain it throughout employment. Special Requirements: Ability to work irregular hours, travel as required, and operate in all types of weather.
