Public Safety HQ 2011 Walt Lincoln Way NE Washington, DC 20002, USA Description The OPS is an independent appraisal function within DCHA, reporting to both the Board of Commissioners and the Executive Director. It provides assessments on the accuracy of financial and operational information, risk management, compliance with regulations and policies, efficiency of resource use, and achievement of organizational objectives. OPS also liaises with federal and district agencies regarding audit and compliance issues. Plans, coordinates, and conducts investigations of alleged or suspected violations of laws, coordinating with law enforcement as needed; Uses investigative techniques, laws of evidence, criminal procedure, and court precedents to analyze cases and gather evidence; Develops and presents evidence for legal proceedings, reconstructing events and establishing responsibilities and liabilities; Identifies suspects, checks criminal histories, conducts interviews and interrogations, and gathers case information; Records actions taken during investigations; Tracks case statuses, reports to the Director of Audit and Compliance, and documents investigation outcomes; Maintains comprehensive case files with reports, statements, evidence, and related records; Prepares cases for court presentation and assists prosecutions; Performs other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements Education & Experience Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and four years of investigative, inspection, or law enforcement experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Sworn or former police officers are preferred.
