Position Type: Oth Classified Support Person/ Head Groundskeeper Date Posted: 11/20/2025 Location: Grounds Maintenance Date Available: 11/24/2025 Licensing and Certification Qualifications Valid Georgia Class C driver's license. Valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Valid Georgia Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicators license (Pesticide CAT.24) within 90 days. Education Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Training and/or education in landscape maintenance, horticulture, or turf grass management (preferred). Experience Qualifications Two years as a foreman or similar role of a grounds maintenance crew in a large‑scale commercial, municipal, or industrial landscape maintenance operation. Skills Qualifications Follow oral and written instructions quickly and accurately. Manage and lead work crews. Use landscape maintenance equipment. Identify and maintain various plants. Communicate clearly orally and in writing. Write work orders. Complete assignments and tasks in a timely manner. Read and follow herbicide application instructions. Primary Responsibilities Work as directed in planning, executing, and reporting landscape maintenance and construction projects around and in school system buildings. Assume responsibility for materials, supplies, and equipment issued for work by crews in assigned zone. Execute projects by utilizing a variety of power tools appropriate to grounds maintenance. Maintain and improve groundskeeping skills and abilities. Coordinate and cooperate with other members in completing assignments. Cooperate with and maintain a positive relationship with all other district employees. Be on call for necessary work 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of duties. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
