Department/Position Description: Competitive Intelligence/GIS manages a centralized database that tracks competitor information and activities, including openings, closings, remodels, and their impact on ADUSA store locations. This data is essential for mapping, location and market research, sales forecasting, spatial analysis, and conducting comprehensive competitive research. Responsible for the development of and the administration of companywide GeoSpatial data and analytics platform.
The intern will work closely with a team of seasoned GeoSpatial professionals, gaining hands-on experience with a variety of analytical tasks and tools typical of the department. Responsibilities include independent research, data creation & validation. Additionally, the intern will complete a capstone project involving the collection and analysis of primary and secondary datasets, culminating in the creation of an interactive report that highlights the results of their analysis.
Qualifications: - Ability to work independently and thrive in a team environment. A self-starter & positive attitude are essential.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience with Alteryx, Kalibrate, ESRI, Power BI, or similar tools.
- Capable of working with medium-to-large geographic datasets. Familiarity with relational databases and SQL Server & Databricks is a plus. Awareness of GeoSpatial data processing, models and methods (e.g.: Spatial overlays, Gravity model, distance decay)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are crucial, as the analyst will be expected to proactively collaborate with teammates, make calls, and participate in fieldwork.
- Must understand census geography hierarchies and be familiar with common Retail Market Delineations (eg: DMAs, MSAs, etc). Know what latitude and longitude and how they can be used as data points.
ME/NC/PA/SC Salary Range: $18.10 - $31.00
