Overview:

The Stigma Reduction Education Campaign is a youth led campaign dedicated to reducing stigma surrounding mental health in BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities. We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Community Outreach Coordinator to collaborate closely with the Project Director in advancing our youth and Transition Age Youth (TAY) mental health initiative. The Community Outreach Coordinator will play a key role in engaging community stakeholders, fostering partnerships, and promoting awareness of mental health resources and support services. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in promoting mental health equity and well-being among youth and TAY populations in Monterey County.

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, including schools, community organizations, healthcare providers, and advocacy groups to further the campaign reach.
  • Organize and facilitate outreach events, workshops, and presentations to raise awareness of mental health issues and resources alongside campaign ambassadors.
  • Act as a liaison between TVPI and community partners to promote collaboration and mutual support for the campaign.

Partnership Development:

  • Identify and establish strategic partnerships with organizations and individuals that align with the campaign's goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate efforts to engage target communities in mental health awareness and support activities.

Public Awareness Campaigns:

  • In collaboration with program participants and staff- plan and implement the campaign public awareness efforts and social media initiatives to destigmatize mental health and promote help-seeking behaviors.
  • Develop and disseminate educational materials, resources, and messaging to target diverse audiences, including youth, TAY, families, and community members.
  • Utilize various communication channels, including social media, television, radio, newsletters, and community events, to amplify campaign messages and reach a wider audience.

Advocacy and Support Services:

  • Support Project Director in carrying out the campaign and meeting program requirements.
  • Provide information and referrals to mental health services, support groups, and resources available within the community.
  • Advocate for improved access to culturally competent mental health care and resources for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly youth and TAY.
  • Collaborate with the Project Director to support youth and TAY ambassadors in their advocacy efforts and community engagement activities.

Data Collection and Reporting:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to carry out data collection for Local Evaluator.
  • Collect and report data on outreach activities, community engagement efforts, and campaign outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with grant requirements and reporting deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the Project Director to ensure compliance with grant guidelines and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Public Health, Community Development, Social Work, Psychology) preferred; relevant experience may be considered.
  • Experience in community outreach, engagement, and partnership development, particularly within diverse communities and youth populations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues, resources, and services, with a commitment to promoting mental health equity and social justice.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with social media platforms for outreach and communication.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for events and meetings.

Additional Requirements:

  • Some travel required.
  • Must be willing to go through LiveScan upon offer of employment.
  • Clean driving record.
