Oxford Hills Technical School is seeking a motivated, compassionate Trade Assistant to join our dynamic, career-focused DO Career Explorations team. This position supports both regular and special education students in a hands-on classroom that integrates academic with real-life experiences.The ideal candidate will have experience in basic mechanical related work, along with a passion for helping students develop strong work habits and confidence in their abilities to succeed in school and the trades. Responsibilities Support the lead instructor in planning and implementing engaging, hands-on lessons in our Bike Shop, woodshop and greenhouse/gardening activities. Work collaboratively with two other DO-Career Explorations staff to accommodate a diverse group of learners. Supervise students during lab/shop activities to ensure safety and productivity. Assist with classroom organization, tool inventory, and maintenance of equipment. Reinforce employability skills such as teamwork, perseverance, and responsibility. Provide individual and small-group instruction as directed by the classroom teacher. Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes student success. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree, College degree or trade experience preferred. Experience working with high school students or individuals with special needs is a plus. Knowledge of or interest in mechanical skills and gardening preferred. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Willingness to learn and grow as part of a career-focused education team.
