Dispatcher - First Student (Serving Memphis-Shelby County School District) Location: Memphis, TN
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM - 5:30 PM
Pay: $21/hour

We're looking for a dedicated Dispatcher to join our Memphis-Shelby County School District team. This role ensures on-time route performance, effective communication between staff and customers, and smooth daily operations.

Coordinate and oversee all bus routes and schedules to ensure on-time service.
Serve as the primary communication liaison with contracted customers and internal teams.
Manage heavy phone and radio traffic, dispatching drivers and responding to issues quickly.
Counsel, coach, and support drivers and monitors to ensure exceptional performance.
Handle scheduling and driver concerns, escalating to the Operations Supervisor or Contract Manager as needed.
Assist with charter reservations, billing, and driver payroll when necessary.
Resolve drop-off and pick-up challenges with professionalism and efficiency.
Perform back-up driver or clerical duties as required.
Support day-to-day operational supervision and complete special projects as assigned.
3-5 years of related experience (dispatch, operations, or transportation preferred).
High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic knowledge of radio dispatch systems and related equipment.
Strong communication and customer service abilities.
Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and dispatching software preferred).
Must pass DOT drug testing and physical exam.
Note: DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not permit the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
