Job Description

TRC Talent Solutions is partnering with Aflac to hire Benefit Specialists. This role is ideal for professionals with experience in leave administration, disability management, benefits, or claims who thrive in customer-focused environments.

 

This position is offered as fully remote for qualified candidates who reside in Maine. For those who prefer, a hybrid option is available out of our South Portland, Maine office.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and manage leave of absence requests (FMLA, PFML, short-term disability, long-term disability, and other programs).
  • Make timely, accurate claim decisions and communicate outcomes clearly.
  • Ensure compliance by reviewing documentation against contracts and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and claim system documentation.
  • Provide guidance to associates and managers on leave situations.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years of experience in leave management, claims, benefits, HR, or related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage sensitive conversations.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of FMLA/state leave laws (PFML a plus).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced virtual environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher.
  • Proficiency in absence or disability management programs.
  • Familiarity with medical disability documentation.
  • Experience using claim systems and generating compliance reports.
