Job Overview:

Sports Research is seeking a visionary Art Director to elevate and expand our brand’s visual identity. This key role will lead and inspire our in-house graphic design team, ensuring our designs resonate with our audience and stay true to our core values. You will drive strategic creative solutions that reflect our brand’s evolution, communicate our commitment to science, performance, and legacy, and push into new territories with innovative designs that set us apart in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire the graphic design team, ensuring high standards of creativity and excellence in execution.
  • Lead any external design agencies and partners, briefing them in on monthly and quarterly brand themes and messages, while auditing work for astute execution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, and communications, to translate business goals into compelling visual content.
  • Develop and maintain a cohesive visual identity that aligns with Sports Research's evolving brand positioning and messaging.
  • Create and oversee the execution of high-impact campaigns across digital, social, print, and product packaging.
  • Ensure that all visual materials meet brand guidelines and deliver a unified, engaging message.
  • Seek new and innovative ways to approach design challenges or changing project requirements by creating effective solutions.
  • Be present managing the end-to-end creative process, from concept development through final production.
  • Provide art direction for photoshoots, video content, and other visual assets to ensure brand consistency and innovation.
  • Address creative challenges and making decisions that ensure the project stays on track.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
  • Stay ahead of design trends and industry best practices to continually push the creative boundaries for the brand.
  • Mentor, train, and develop the graphic design team, providing constructive feedback and fostering an empowering and collaborative environment.
  • Ensure graphic designers are cross trained and have tools needed such as brand guidelines, SOP’s, templates and work instructions.
  • Empower team members fostering a sense of collective goal achievement.
  • Promote team growth and development through regular 1:1’s, creating and monitoring goals, and performance management.
  • Other duties as needed/assigned

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of proven experience as a traditional Art Director, with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse work in branding, digital design, and creative campaigns.
  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in Design or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A passion for sports, wellness, and an understanding of how to create designs that resonate with the target audience.
  • Expertise in visual design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, etc.) and an understanding of design principles, copy, motion graphics, UX/UI, typography, color theory, and layout.
  • Experience effectively leading and mentoring a team of graphic designers.
  • Empathy with ability to understand and connect with others.
  • Positive and professional presence.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate business objectives into visual solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • A deep understanding of brand identity, consistency, and visual storytelling.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Working Conditions This role works in a collaborative office setting with desks, computers, stairs, telephones and a copy machine. Travel less than 10%
